Piet
A geometric chandelier
Piet is inspired by Mondrian's Composition. The lighting form follows a more brutalist style with exposed planes of wood and acrylic.
Early Prototypes
Chipboard models were created to first test out different configurations in terms of aesthetic and feasibility. Later models consisted of more durable materials with greater thicknesses to account for assembly and visual hierarchy. The modular pattern was finalized at this stage.
Final Design
Piet takes the geometric style from Mondrian’s Composition and creates a similar awe-inspiring pattern for its audience. 60 pieces in total, the fixture balances the visual hierarchy of lines, planes, and volumes.
The project was built in SolidWorks, rendered in KeyShot, and translated into a manufacturing technical packet.
